Michelle and Andrei’s destination wedding in Montreux, Switzerland

Michelle was born in China and studied Finance in the US. Andrei was born in Romania and graduated computer science in the UK. They met in Hong Kong where they both live. Their family is spread out between Hong-Kong, China, the United States and Eastern Europe. This is why they chose Switzerland as a natural destination for their intimate destination wedding. Valerie from Togather Events planned their wedding day to perfection, assisted by Julie.

Welcome Dinner in the Lavaux Vineyards

The wedding festivities began the evening before with a magical welcome dinner in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards. Michelle, Andrei, and their guests embarked on a scenic boat ride from Montreux to the charming harbor of Lutry. From there, they boarded the delightful Lavaux Express, a tourist train that winds through the terraced vines offering breathtaking views over Lake Geneva.

Their destination was the Domaine de la Crausaz, an idyllic winery perched in the center of the Lavaux vineyards. Dating back to 1515, this historic site provided an enchanting setting for the welcome dinner. The evening was a perfect introduction to the beauty and flavors of the region, setting the tone for the incredible wedding weekend to come.

The next morning, the bride and groom prepared for their ceremony at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace...

A Fairytale Wedding at the Iconic Fairmont Le Montreux Palace

Nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva Leman with breathtaking views of the Alps, the Belle Époque grandeur of the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace provided an enchanting backdrop for the intimate destination wedding of Michelle and Andrei. This stylish international couple chose the iconic palace hotel, steeped in over a century of history, for their special day.

The festivities began in the hotel's lavish suites. Following a private tea ceremony, the bride and groom prepared separately with their wedding parties. Makeup artist and hairstylist Tina created not one but three glamorous looks for Michelle throughout the day and she looked stunning.

Michelle was a vision of elegance in a Los Angeles designer dress with bespoke pearl-embroidered mittens, while Andrei cut a dashing figure in a black and white tuxedo. The couple's impeccable fashion sense was on full display.

The ceremony took place on the hotel's manicured grounds facing the serene lake. Lush floral arrangements in shades of pink, purple and blue adorned the outdoor ceremony. As a live band played softly, Michelle made her entrance. Tears of joy flowed as the couple exchanged heartfelt vows.

Following the ceremony, guests mingled over champagne and canapés on La Terrasse du Petit Palais, marveling at the panoramic alpine views.

The reception unfolded in the hotel's Coupole, its ornate chandeliers casting a warm glow. Tables were set with towering floral centerpieces, gilt-edged china, and personalized menus that highlighted the palace's renowned cuisine.

After a gourmet dinner service, the newlyweds led their guests outside for the magical lantern release. The tradition of releasing lanterns dates back to the Han Dynasty, when Buddhist monks would light them in honor of Buddha. Over time, the practice evolved into a popular way to make wishes and celebrate special occasions. For Michelle and Andrei, it was the perfect way to share their joy and hopes for the future with their loved ones. One by one, guests lit the lanterns, making silent wishes as the delicate orbs began to take flight. Soon the night sky was aglow with the warm light of the lanterns, drifting peacefully over the tranquil lake. The couple watched in awe, hands intertwined, as their guests' lanterns joined their own in a breathtaking display. The scene was nothing short of cinematic - a sea of glowing lanterns reflecting on the still water, the grand Belle Époque hotel illuminated behind them.

After the last lantern had disappeared into the inky sky, the guests returned to the palace to continue the festivities and watch the newlyweds take to the dance floor for their first dance - a tango - as husband and wife.
