Ray and Ed’s destination wedding in French Chateau de Ripaille

Meet cute

Raymonde, “Ray”, is half Canadian and half Swiss. She’s always laughing, very fond of her sister (they’re like besties) and speaks Frenchy French, Canadian French and English. The whole package. She’s an architect and has met Edward in the country of Kings and Queens (aka England, UK). Edward “Ed”, is a true Brit, with the cute London accent and all. His father described him in his speech as “not the sports guy type”. Preferring books and Art - the stuff of true gentlemen - he restores art pieces for a living. You might find him touching up Mona Lisa’s '“makeup” or fixing Degas’ ballet dancers. At least that how I imagine him working anyway. But I digress.

Destination wedding

They live in London but as people of great taste, have chosen a chateau in France to host their not exactly royal wedding.

Chateau de Ripaille in Thonon is part of the family (don’t ask). On a sunny August weekend in the French Alps, friends and family gathered for a celebration filled with speeches, laughter, tears of joy, garden-party style. As unique as they are, Ray changed from a white dress to a black suit for the photos and reception that ensued. Again at dinner, more speeches, more laughter, and a rollercoaster of emotions.

The team

Freya coordinated this destination wedding expertly, managing the contingencies throughout the day. Sonya created the floral arrangements for the ceremony and reception, along with the bride’s bouquet.
